Antioch Bible Church was started as part of a church planting initiative called “OUTREACH OREGON”. The church plant began when Eric Nyborg (pastor/evangelist) launched with a small group Bible study in November of 2007.
Gospel Growth is the Focus --
As a new church, we desire that our growth come primarily by aggressive evangelist efforts and through genuine believers that are looking for a Biblically grounded church where they’ll have opportunity to serve using their spiritual gifts. This will require that our leadership faithfully equip the congregation to effectively present a clear “Christ-centered gospel” along with a deep commitment to teaching and living the truths of scripture, without compromise.
Our Purpose as Mandated by Scripture --
As a result, our purpose is to glorify God, to equip believers for service, and to aggressively evangelize the community (1 Cor 10:31, Eph 4:12, Matt 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8). We take these elements seriously and will labor to see them carried out for the health of the church and the individual growth of its members. It’s amazing what can happen when Christ’s Church is faithful to the things He has mandated.
Why Antioch Bible Church --
It goes without saying that many churches today struggle with fulfilling the great commission as programs dominate their time, energy, and resources. We don’t want to fall into this trap and will strive to maintain a focus on the unchurched and unsaved, calling them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. As part of our evangelistic efforts, we want to train and send out pastors to plant churches through evangelism. We see this type of model from the church in Antioch (see Acts 13:1-3), who commissioned Paul and Barnabas to establish new churches by bold proclamation of the gospel. As a result of sending these men, people were saved and churches were formed, increasing the kingdom of God.
Our Prayer --
We pray that the Lord will use this church and others as we start to saturate the Northwest with the gospel to bring glory to Christ. Will you pray with us?
